Check energy use before you unplug
Open Activity Monitor and select Energy. Apple describes Energy Impact as a relative measure of an app’s current energy use and 12 hr Power as an average over the last 12 hours or since startup on a laptop. Neither column promises how many hours remain on a flight. See Apple’s Energy pane guide.
Build a repeatable preflight check
- Record battery condition, charge level, Mac model, and the apps you plan to use offline.
- Set the display brightness you expect to use and choose whether macOS Low Power Mode fits your work.
- Open the same working set you expect on the flight. Observe Activity Monitor’s Energy pane while using it; note app names and the time window.
- For a comparison, repeat the same workload from similar starting conditions and keep each raw observation. Do not compare a quiet idle period with an active video call or build.
Plan around connectivity
NotchDock’s live sports and market feeds request external data, so do not rely on them without a network connection. Save documents and media you need before boarding and verify that they open offline. This is a connectivity boundary, not a claim that an app will extend flight time.
The earlier multi-hour savings and wattage figures on this page had no raw measurement record and have been removed. Native Swift versus Electron is not, by itself, evidence of battery runtime. Report results only for a named app build, Mac, workload, duration, and repeated observations.
